The beginning of the 21st century was marked by dynamic transformations in the world associated with the intensification of the struggle between opposing trends in the development of society. On the one hand, globalization processes are spreading, covering all spheres of human activity, and international integration processes are developing. On the other hand, localization disintegration processes are increasing, which, paradoxically, occur in parallel with globalization and integration. It is in the realm of unity and struggle of these opposites that the development of countries in our time takes place. In this context, the mandatory academic discipline «Country Studies» acts as one of the leading in a holistic understanding of the processes taking place in the modern world.
The purpose of the academic discipline is to form in applicants a holistic idea of the main stages, directions, dynamics and features of regional development of countries of the world; creation of a methodological basis in the study of the territorial organization of the economic life of society, the regularities of the process of formation and functioning of the socio-economic system of the region, taking into account the geopolitical, historical, demographic, national, religious, environmental, political-legal, natural-resource features of the region.
